Athletics Communications

The Department of Athletics Communications within WVU Athletics facilitates media coverage for all 18 Mountaineer varsity sports. Athletics Communications is responsible for publicizing and promoting teams and student-athletes through press releases, game notes, media guides, press conferences, social media, posters, schedule cards and interaction with individual members of the media.

General

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for assigned sports
  • Coordinate and monitor media interviews
  • Produce media guides and game programs
  • Maintain statistics and archives
  • Create content including video graphics
  • Write press releases and feature stories
  • Maintain the athletics website (WVUsports.com)
  • Monitor and Maintain social media channels for assigned sports
  • Travel with assigned teams
  • Provide information to the Big 12 and NCAA
  • Assist with all football and basketball games and other sports as needed

Graphics

Responsibilities

  • Develop ideas and produce designs for various visual materials for promotional and marketing purposes for all sports and various areas in the athletic department, such as multi-page publications, brochures, posters, flyers, web pages, social media graphics, motion graphics.
  • Create materials integrated across a variety of media including print, photography, video, web and multimedia.
  • Work with department public relations specialist to most effectively promote teams, athletes and coaches via design projects.
