    Diane L. Kendall was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2017.

    A native of West Virginia, Kendall earned a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from West Virginia University in 1986, a master’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from California State University, Fullerton in 1989, and a doctorate in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. She later earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington in 2020.

    Mary Marockie

    2017 Outstanding Alumni Award

    Mary Marockie was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2017 and was named the College’s Distinguished Alumna that same year.

    A Charleston, W.Va., native, Marockie earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology from the University of Charleston, followed by a master’s degree in elementary education and psychology and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in reading and psychology from West Virginia University. She also completed additional graduate coursework at Ohio University and the University of Michigan.

    Michael A. Oliverio, Sr.

    Michael A. Oliverio Sr. was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2017.

    Oliverio earned a bachelor’s degree in physical science and mathematics from Fairmont State University and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from West Virginia University. He completed additional post-graduate coursework at the University of Virginia, the College of St. Thomas in Minnesota, and George Washington University.

    Cynthia "Sam" Booth was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017.

    A native of Oak Hill, W.Va., Booth earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from West Virginia University, a master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas, and a doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of North Dakota.

    David “D.C.” Colt was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017.

    A Buffalo, N.Y., native, Colt earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in athletic training from West Virginia University in 1977, a master’s degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1978, and a doctorate from the University of Missouri.

    John Gay was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017.

    A native of New York, Gay earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University, and a doctorate in health sciences and education from West Virginia University in 1974. He later completed additional graduate studies at San Diego State University and a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. Before his graduate studies, Gay served as a United States Navy aviator.

    Olana "Tick" Hendrick-Scheaffer

    Olana “Tick” Hedrick-Sheaffer was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017.

    A native of Fairmont, W.Va., Hedrick-Sheaffer earned a bachelor’s degree in 1971 and a master’s degree in 1973, both in physical education and sport sciences from West Virginia University. She later earned national certification as an athletic trainer in 1989.

    Daniel F. Mahony was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2017 and was named the College’s Outstanding Alumnus in 2021.

    Mahony earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech, a master’s degree in sport management from West Virginia University in 1990, and a doctorate in sport management from The Ohio State University in 1995. He began his career in public accounting with KPMG and in intercollegiate athletics as assistant ticket manager at the University of Cincinnati before transitioning to higher education.
