    Gale Catlett

    1999 Outstanding Alumni Award

    Gale Catlett was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 1992 and recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus in 1999.

    Catlett, born in 1940 in Hedgesville, W.Va., was one of the most influential figures in WVU men’s basketball history as both a player and coach. As a student-athlete from 1959-63, he helped lead the Mountaineers to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two Southern Conference titles, and a combined 73-18 record.

    Robert L. Deprospero

    1992 Outstanding Alumni Award

    Robert L. DeProspero was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus by the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in 1992.

    A native of Morgantown, W.Va., DeProspero graduated from Morgantown High School and earned both a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in education from West Virginia University. After completing his military service in the U.S. Air Force, he began his career as a teacher and coach in Virginia before joining the U.S. Secret Service in 1965.

    Donald W. Eicher Sr. was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 1992.

    Eicher earned his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1937 and a master’s degree from West Virginia University in 1946.  He began his career as a teacher and coach at Rowlesburg High School before moving to University High School in Morgantown, where he also served as an instructor with WVU’s College of Education. During his time at University High, he organized the school’s first varsity football team in 1947 and led the wrestling program to a state championship in 1957.

    Randolph Worls was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 1992.

    Worls earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the College of Wooster in 1960 before continuing his education at West Virginia University, where he received a master’s degree in park administration and recreation in 1968. He served as a graduate instructor for the Revenue Sources Management School and Maintenance Management School at Oglebay Park in 1970, which helped launch his lifelong career with the Oglebay Foundation.
