As the spring semester draws to a close, we want to recognize the incredible achievements of our Mountaineers. College is difficult. There are academic and social obstacles, but there are also life-changing opportunities. At the end of each year, the College of Applied Human Sciences comes together for the CAHS Spring Celebration – an event where we recognize the grit, determination, and success our students have. We will gather to share cookies, donuts, coffee, and fruit, but also stories from another successful year. Students who earned a spot on the President’s or Dean’s list will receive a keychain and a token as a physical representation of their achievement. Each additional semester a student earns a place on the President’s or Dean’s list they will receive a unique token. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a memory chain where they can inscribe a memory from the past academic year on paper and add it to the collective experiences of the rest of the college.
Recognizing the achievements of our students is important and provides a punctuated moment to use as a point of reflection before pushing onward. There is much to do to prepare for next year:
Students are now registering for summer and fall classes. Freshmen registration day is April 5th. All students should by now have met with their academic advisor and formed a plan for the next term. It is important to register early to ensure access to necessary courses. If a student is confused about who their advisor is they can find out here.
Students should fill out the FAFSA for the next year if they plan on using federal financial aid. FAFSA must be completed every year to remain eligible for federal funds including grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans.
They should also determine whether they want to continue to live on-campus or to move to off-campus housing.
The summer is a great time to pick up a job or an internship, but also to rest, reflect, and reconnect with family.
For those looking for an opportunity to earn credits in an accelerated time at a flat rate tuition for all students, consider Maymester.
Finally, for students looking to increase their GPA or who need to earn additional
credits to keep a scholarship, consider
Summer Boost which will provide students with summer success resources, and
upon successful completion of program requirements students are eligible for a
stipend.
