Paul Bischoff
2013 Hall of Fame Inductee
Paul Bischoff was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2012.
A native of Beaver Falls, Pa., Bischoff enrolled at West Virginia University in 1949 and played end for the Mountaineer football team from 1950 to 1952 under head coach Art “Pappy” Lewis. He was a three-year letterwinner, team captain, and Academic All-American. At the time of his graduation, he held multiple school receiving records and was elected WVU Student Body President. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1953 and later pursued graduate study at the University of Pittsburgh.
Following a brief professional football career in the Canadian Football League and military service as part of his ROTC commitment, Bischoff returned to Beaver Falls and began a long career in education and public service. He taught and coached at Beaver High School from 1957 to 1962, then served as an assistant football coach and faculty member at Geneva College.
He later transitioned to public administration, serving for two decades as a leader in Chippewa Township, Pa. His roles included Student Center Director, Campus Programs Chairman, and Placement Director. He also managed the township’s Sanitary Authority, overseeing key infrastructure and community services. Throughout his career, Bischoff was known for fostering civic engagement, educational opportunity, and institutional growth within his hometown and region.
In addition to his induction into the CPASS Hall of Fame, Bischoff was honored with induction into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 and was a charter member of the WVU Mountaineer Legends Society in 2016. He was also recognized by the Beaver Falls, Beaver County, and Pennsylvania state halls of fame.
Bischoff died in 2021 at the age of 90.
