Louise Christensen
2013 Hall of Fame Inductee
Louise Christensen was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame.
A 1962 graduate of West Virginia University, Christensen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Physical Education before completing a Certificate in Physical Therapy at Duke University in 1963. She built a distinguished career in physical therapy, holding both clinical and management roles across several institutions.
Her professional experience included positions at the University of North Carolina Medical Center, West Virginia Rehabilitation Center, Charleston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans, and Charleston Memorial Hospital. In each setting, she was recognized for her patient-centered approach and her commitment to advancing the field of physical therapy.
Christensen was a longtime member of the CPASS Visiting Committee and served as chair, contributing to the growth and direction of the College. In retirement, Christensen volunteered her time with organizations such as Hospice and Habitat for Humanity, and was active in her church community.
She passed away in 2012.
