Gwen Rosenbluth

Gwen Rosenbluth was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2008.

Rosenbluth earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in secondary guidance and counseling from Memphis State University, and a Doctor of Education from West Virginia University in 1990.

A longtime English teacher at Morgantown High School, Rosenbluth helped launch WVU’s five-year teacher preparation program and coordinated the first teacher education center at Morgantown High School. As an adjunct instructor at WVU, she taught courses in writing methods, English education, and language arts.

She led the West Virginia University Writing Project for more than a decade, helped revive the West Virginia Language Arts Council, and served as a consultant and instructor for the West Virginia Center for Professional Development’s Advanced Placement English and Composition workshops. She was also a consultant for the College Board’s AP English Language and Composition program.

Her honors include Monongalia County Teacher of the Year (1989). She also introduced one of the first computer writing labs in a West Virginia high school.
