Beverly Kingery

Beverly Kingery was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2008. 

Kingery earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood/elementary education from the University of Charleston and master’s degrees in reading education and educational administration from Marshall University. 

She served as coordinator of reading for the West Virginia Department of Education and later as superintendent of Nicholas County Schools. Her work focused on literacy improvement, curriculum leadership, and system-level support for reading instruction. She has also worked as an educational consultant. 

Her recognitions include the Madge McDaniel Award (2002) for outstanding contributions to reading literacy.
