Biographical Sketch

Dr. Javier Cardenas was appointed to the College of Applied Human Sciences Visiting Committee in 2024. Cardenas is a Professor and Chief of the Division of Sports Neurology at West Virginia University’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, where he also directs the Concussion & Brain Injury Center. His career focuses on the treatment and prevention of traumatic brain injury, with an emphasis on sports-related injuries.

Cardenas serves as Senior Medical Advisor for the NFL’s Concussion Protocol and holds advisory roles with multiple organizations, including the NCAA and USA Football.
