Biographical Sketch
Dr. Dan Mahony joined the College of Applied Human Sciences Visiting Committee in 2024. Mahony serves as President of the Southern Illinois University System, bringing extensive experience in higher education leadership, university financing, and sport management. His academic background includes a PhD in Sport Management from Ohio State University and previous leadership roles at Kent State University and Winthrop University.
Mahony has received several distinguished awards, including the Earle F. Zeigler Award for research contributions in sport management and West Virginia University’s Legacy Award. He is an active scholar with over 60 journal publications and co-authored Economics of Sport. Mahony is also recognized by his fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha with the Order of West Range, the highest honor for lifetime achievement.
