Biographical Sketch

Dr. James Wyant is an assistant professor in the physical education and kinesiology program. His teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate physical education teacher education courses, as well as coordinating student teaching capstone experiences. Prior to his time at WVU, he worked as an assistant professor at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Dr. Wyant's research interests include the emerging role of technology in physical education, as well as cultural competence in the physical education environment. He has authored over 25 journal articles and two book chapters. Wyant has also delivered more than 35 state and national presentations. His most recent work has examined the influence of a yearlong curricular strategy to promote intercultural competence in teacher candidates.

Wyant received his BS in Physical Education and Health Education from Fairmont State University, MS from WVU and PhD from WVU with an emphasis in physical education and cognate in instructional design and technology. He is also a licensed teacher by the West Virginia Department of Education in physical education and health education.

Dr. Wyant resides in Morgantown with his wife and three sons.
