Gloria Salucci Cunningham

Gloria Salucci Cunningham was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2004.

A lifelong resident of Morgantown, W.Va., Cunningham earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1943 and a Master of Arts degree in 1963, both in education from West Virginia University. She taught business education at University High School for 12 years before joining the WVU faculty in 1970.

At WVU, she served for 15 years in the College of Human Resources and Education, where she supervised student teachers and coordinated their placement in area public schools. She retired in 1985 as Assistant Professor Emerita.

Cunningham was a founding member of the College of Human Resources and Education Alumni Association and served as honorary chair of the college’s planned giving program. She established the Gloria S. Cunningham Endowed Scholarship and the Gloria S. Cunningham Dean’s Fund. She was a life member of the WVU Alumni Association and served as president of the WVU Emeritus Club.

She received the David W. Jacobs Award from the WVU Alumni Association in 2000, the College of Human Resources and Education Dean’s Award in 2001, and was inducted into the Order of Vandalia in 2009. She was elected to Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Kappa, and Delta Kappa Gamma, serving two terms as president of the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Cunningham participated in vocational education councils at the county and state levels and served with various Morgantown organizations focused on education and community service.

She passed away in 2021.
