K. "Kiki" Konstantinos
Kereazis “Kiki” Konstantinos was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus by the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in 1990.
A native of Yorkville, Ohio, Konstantinos was born on June 22, 1928. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After completing a two-year enlistment, he enrolled at West Virginia University in 1948 to play football for Coach Dud DeGroot and to pursue a degree in health and physical education. A standout both academically and athletically, Konstantinos earned his bachelor’s degree in 1952.
Following graduation, he returned to military service as an officer in the U.S. Army and served with distinction in Korea. He returned to WVU in 1954 as a graduate assistant football coach while earning his master’s degree in physical education, which he completed in 1955.
Konstantinos began his professional career at Moorestown High School in New Jersey, where he led the football team to an undefeated season in 1957. He was hired the following year at Lenape High School and quickly rose through the administrative ranks—from head football coach to vice principal, principal, and eventually superintendent of the Lenape Regional High School District. Under his leadership, the district grew from one to three high schools and graduated more than 35,000 students.
Known for his firm but compassionate leadership style, Konstantinos was honored multiple times for his contributions to education and athletics. His accolades included the Superintendent of the Year award from the New Jersey Association of School Administrators in 1992 and induction into the South Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame. He also received awards from the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association and the School Administrators Association.
Beyond education, Konstantinos was a supporter of the performing arts and served in leadership roles on numerous boards, advisory councils, and community organizations. He was also active in the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Konstantinos passed away on October 18, 2002, at the age of 74 after a battle with liver cancer.
