Biographical Sketch
Dr. Mamboleo is an associate professor of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. He holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Counselor Education from University of Arizona and Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from Bowling Green State University. He also holds a BA in Sociology and Kiswahili from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He obtained a Diploma in Healthcare Management from Kenya Institute of Management. He is a native of Kenya.
Prior to joining the WVU faculty, Dr. Mamboleo taught classes in the rehabilitation counseling concentration at Alabama AAMU in the Department of Counseling and Social Work.
His research focus in rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with disabilities includes: (a) the intersection between chronic disabilities, employment, and health outcomes for individuals with disabilities; (b) attitudes/perceptions toward individuals with disabilities and their inclusion in the society; (c) accommodations and/or access issues for individuals with disabilities; (d) international rehabilitation issues; (e) veterans’ rehabilitation. Dr. Mamboleo is a member of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE), as well as the Kenya Scholars and Studies Association. He serves on the editorial board of journals and is a certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC). He has experience working with NGOs in Kenya focusing on disadvantaged urban youth as well as marginalized communities in informal settlements.
