Biographical Sketch

Dr. Brenda Everett is an Assistant Professor in the School of Counseling and Well-Being. With over 20 years of professional experience, she has served diverse populations across the military, the Department of Veterans Affairs, higher education, non-profit agencies, and group and individual private practice. Prior to her current role, Dr. Everett worked at Northwestern University, Duquesne University, and West Virginia Wesleyan College, contributing her expertise to a variety of academic and professional settings.
   
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and dedicated counselor educator, Dr. Everett specializes in fostering agency within counselor education. She empowers students and supervisees to take ownership of their learning and professional development through trauma-informed and culturally inclusive approaches. By encouraging individuals to bring their authentic selves into their work and develop self-efficacy, she helps them confidently navigate their professional identity formation.
   
Dr. Everett reflects a deep commitment to advancing excellence in both counseling practice and education through teaching, research, advocacy, service and leadership while fostering innovation and growth within the counseling profession.
