Advance your career with the support of the CAHS community. Our college offers a variety of specialized graduate scholarships funded by generous alumni and donors. Completing our single, streamlined application ensures you are evaluated for every general award you qualify for as you pursue your master’s or doctoral degree.

  • Peter and Linda Zulia Endowed Scholarship

    This award honors Peter and Linda Zulia.

    Requirements

    • Degree: undergraduate or graduate
    • GPA: 2.5

    Additional Notes

    • First preferences for applicant selection will go to Athletic Training majors.
    • A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year providing they continue to meet the selection criteria.
  • Kelly Irene Osleger Endowed Scholarship

    This scholarship award honors Kelly Irene Osleger.

    Requirements

    • Degree: Full time Undergraduate or Graduate
    • Major: Available to all CPASS majors
    • GPA: 2.5 or higher
    • Involvement: Recipient must demonstrate involvement in professional or community organizations

    Additional Notes

    • First preference will go to students studying in Physical Education or Athletic Training.
  • Eleanor Lantz Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded through the WVU Alumni Association in honor of Eleanor Lantz

    Requirements

    • Degree: Full time Undergraduate or Graduate
    • Major: Available to all Sport Sciences majors
    • GPA: 2.5 or higher
    • Residency: Student must be a WV resident
  • Robert Hayhurst Semper Fi Scholarship

    This scholarship award honors Robert Hayhurst

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate
    • Class: full-time Junior or Senior
    • GPA: 2.5 or higher
    • Location: must be a WV resident
    • Service: this scholarship will go to a student who has served in the U.S. Marine Corps

    Additional Notes

    • First preference for Sport Management major
    • Second preference for other CPASS majors
    • Available to all students at WVU
  • Dr. Patricia K. Fehl Graduate Student Scholarship

    This scholarship award honors Dr. Patricia K. Fehl.

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Need: Recipient most show financial need

    Additional Notes

    • Priority given to a first year Doctoral student studying Coaching and Teaching Sciences
    • Second priority given to a Master's student studying Coaching or Physical Education
  • Kevin and Karen Elko Scholarship

    This award honors Kevin and Karen Elko.

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Major: Sport Management on-campus program
    • Involvement: Recipient must demonstrate a record of public and/or professional service in the Sport Management profession.
  • Dr. Dana D. Brooks Scholarship

    This scholarship award honors Dana D. Brooks who retired as the Dean of CPASS in 2019.

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Level: Doctoral
    • Assistantship: Must hold a Graduate Teaching Assistantship
    • Involvement: Must show evidence of involvement in professional or community organizations

    • First preference goes to students majoring in Sport and Exercise Performance Psychology
    • Second preference goes to students majoring in Coaching and Teaching Studies
  • Hazel Anne Johnson Rehabilitation Counseling Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Major: Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
    • Need: Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

    Additional Notes

    • Recipients must be West Virginia natives.
  • Woodrow & Virginia Bonds Endowed Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
  • Alex & Betty F. Schoenbaum Teacher Preparation Scholarship/Loan

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program

    Additional Notes

    • Recipients must have successfully completed the undergraduate supervised clinical experience in a West Virginia school and/or have one or more years of full-time teaching experience in a West Virginia school; demonstrated academic ability and intent to teach in West Virginia.
    • Recipients must agree to complete a degree in teacher education. If the recipient chooses not to complete the teaching degree the scholarship must be fully repaid.
  • Ann & Bob Orders STEM Teaching Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Approved program of study leading to a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) degree program in teacher education.
    • GPA: Recipients must demonstrate high academic standing, as defined by WVU.
    • Residency: Recipients must be West Virginia residents.
  • Delmas Miller Endowed Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program.

    Additional Notes

    • Preference will be given to secondary education majors.
  • Drs. Catherine Perry and Donald R. Cotten CEHS Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education; Master of Arts in Certification, with emphasis in mathematics, sciences, or computer science/technology
    • GPA: Recipients shall have and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

    Additional Notes

    • First preference will be for citizens of the United States of America (as allowed by law and institutional policy) and students who are not a participant in any intercollegiate athletic program and/or the recipient of any athletic aid.
  • Eddie C. Kennedy Endowed Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Major: Literacy Education
  • Harry B. & Dora Morgan Heflin Graduate Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Major: The recipient may be working toward an advanced degree, pursuing additional areas of certification, or further developing knowledge in an existing area of expertise.

    Additional Notes

    • Preference will be given to any individual presently teaching in a public school in West Virginia.
  • Jill Clampitt Memorial Special Education Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in an elementary education or special education program.

    Additional Notes

    • First preference will be given to non-residents of West Virginia.
  • Leon & Mae Newell McKown Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in an education program.
    • GPA: Recipients must demonstrate academic promise.
    • Need: Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

    Additional Notes

    • First preference is given to students residing in Calhoun County, WV.
    • Second preference is given to any West Virginia Resident.
  • Margaret B. Fitzgerald Education Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program.

    Additional Notes

    • First preference is given to residents from Wood County, WV, followed by any resident of West Virginia.
  • Moore Family Endowed Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program with the intent to teach in West Virginia.
    • GPA: Recipients must be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.

    Additional Notes

    • Students must be full-time status to receive this award.
  • William “Bill” Thomas McLaughlin II Education Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program.

    Additional Notes

    • Preference is given to residents of West Virginia.
  • William C. Waters Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program.
    • GPA: Recipients must demonstrate academic promise.
    • Need: Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

    Additional Notes

    • First preference is for graduates of Clay-Battelle High School in Monongalia County.
    • If there are no applicants available from Clay-Battelle High School, other students who are preparing to become teachers, and meet the stated criteria, may receive the scholarships.
  • William S. and Karen E. Bingman Endowed Education Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Degree: Undergraduate, Graduate
    • Major: Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher education program.

    Additional Notes

    • Preference is given to students transferring from Potomac State College.
  • Dr. Rogers McAvoy Educational Psychology Scholarship

    Requirements

    • Major: Educational Psychology; other learning sciences graduate programs
