Patricia Love

2016 Hall of Fame Inductee

Patricia Love was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Education and Human Services Hall of Fame in 2016.

A native of Sistersville, W.Va., Love earned her doctorate in counselor education from West Virginia University. A licensed marriage and family therapist, she has been a clinical practitioner for more than 40 years and is a long-standing clinical member and approved supervisor in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She also served as president of the International Association for Marriage and Family Counseling.

Early in her academic career, Love was a tenured associate professor at Texas A&M University–Commerce. She later co-founded the Austin Family Institute in Austin, Texas, providing therapy, consultation, supervision, and public education in marriage and family therapy.

She is the author or co-author of several books and workbooks, including Hot Monogamy and How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It, along with numerous professional articles and training programs. Her work has reached international audiences through media appearances on programs such as Oprah, The Today Show, and CNN.

In addition to clinical practice, Love has served as a relationship consultant, trainer, and workshop presenter, developing online courses and multimedia materials focused on improving interpersonal communication and emotional well-being.
