2015 Hall of Fame Inductee

David Cohen was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2015.

Cohen holds three degrees, including a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology/athletic training (1995) and a master’s degree in community health education (2001) from West Virginia University, as well as a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. He also completed the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau’s scout development program and is a licensed California attorney and certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association.

Cohen’s professional career spans athletic training, sports law, and executive leadership. He spent nearly a decade as an athletic trainer in the Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos, and Boston Red Sox organizations before transitioning into legal and executive roles across Major League Baseball and the NFL. From 2007 to 2013, he led legal affairs and risk management for the Los Angeles Angels and AM830 KLAA, and later served as General Counsel of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was instrumental in contract negotiation, litigation management, HR and compliance, and reducing organizational insurance losses.

Cohen later served as Head of Player Operations for the Alliance of American Football, where he oversaw a 175-person department and contributed to scaling the organization to over 1,100 employees. He is currently the General Counsel at Infinite Athlete, a sports technology startup, and founder of Major League Business LLC, a consulting firm supporting sports entities and startups.

His professional accolades include being named the 2001 Minor League Baseball Athletic Trainer of the Year and a 2013 “Top 10 Thirty-Something” by the Association of Corporate Counsel. He was also selected as ACC Network Member of the Year in 2019 and a three-time finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journal Top Corporate Counsel Award. Cohen has held leadership roles within the ACC, NATA, and the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
