Kathleen Lipkovich
Kathleen Lipkovich was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. She was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2002.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Lipkovich earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Youngstown State University in 1972, where she competed in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She later completed her master’s degree in physical education at West Virginia University in 1975 and a doctoral degree in higher education administration and physical education at WVU. While at WVU, she served as a graduate assistant to Pat Fehl and Kittie Blakemore.
Lipkovich held faculty and coaching roles at Central Connecticut State and Trinity College before earning a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University to study higher education administration. She spent 30 years at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where her roles included associate athletic director, assistant chairperson of the Department of Health and Physical Education, director of equal opportunity in sports, and coordinator of the sport administration program.
Her service to Edinboro extended across campus leadership, including terms as president and secretary of the University Senate and as NCATE faculty coordinator. She chaired numerous committees related to hiring, curriculum, academic policies, and faculty advancement. Lipkovich also served as NCAA Division II Atlantic Region chair for women’s volleyball.
She established the Kathleen Lipkovich Doctoral Support Scholarship to assist graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in physical education and related fields.
