About Our Courses

CAHS offers a variety of career development, experiential learning, professional field experience, and credit for internship courses. While some of these opportunities are major specific, many are open to all students in the college.

Available Courses

One of the best ways to enhance your learning and add to your resume at the same time is through applying what you learn in class out in the real world. Use the following CAHS Career Courses to receive academic credit for your internship or professional field experiences.

SPSC and SEC 289

Pre-Internship in the Sport Sciences

These variable credit internship courses are available to students in the School of Sport Sciences in the SPSC subject code and the School of Education and Counseling in the SEC subject code. Take between 1 and 6 credits of internship each semester. Earn credit, gain practical experience in a range of professions, and develop the necessary skills expected by employers in the workforce.

CAHS 300

Career Exploration in Applied Human Sciences

This course is required by most majors within CAHS, but is open to all students interested in learning more about professional identity, skill development, and career preparedness. Topics include professionalism principles, tools for employee success and wellness, financial literacy for a sustained future, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, and advanced career exploration and planning.

CAHS 489

Capstone Experience in Applied Human Sciences

This course is a required capstone for most CAHS majors. The course is designed to engage students in experiential learning opportunities that target knowledge and skill integration, meaningful reflection, and effective transition post-graduation.
