Biographical Sketch
Donna Peduto is Executive Director of the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, a group of state and national educators working to champion public education from early childhood through post-secondary levels.
She previously served as Director of Operations for the West Virginia Board of Education, where she was a key liaison to board members, state education leaders, the Governor’s Office, and legislative education committees. Peduto has extensive experience in education policy development, including the School Innovation Zones Act, and has collaborated with organizations such as the National School Boards Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Earlier in her career, Peduto directed national initiatives for the Stupski Foundation and held leadership positions within the West Virginia Department of Education, where she was the state’s first Innovation Zones Coordinator and later oversaw 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Schools of Excellence. She also directed K-12 Initiatives for the EdVenture Group, managing projects supported by the U.S. Department of Education, National Science Foundation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Peduto is active in national education organizations, having served as president of the National Association of State Boards of Education Executives and as a board member of the Regional Education Lab. She was inducted into the June Harless Hall of Fame in 2016 and received the NASBE David Kysilko Award in 2017 for her contributions to public education.
