Jerry A. Koloskie

Jerry Koloskie was inducted into the inaugural College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously inducted into the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Hall of Fame in 2019.

A native of Monongah, W.Va., Koloskie earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from West Virginia University in 1980 and his master’s degree from Iowa State University, where he served as a graduate assistant football athletic trainer and became the Cyclones’ first full-time assistant athletic trainer.

Koloskie spent 32 years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he served as director of athletic training, deputy athletic director, and interim athletic director. During his tenure, he was the athletic trainer for three NCAA Final Four men’s basketball teams, including the 1990 national championship team, and also supported UNLV’s men’s golf national championship. He initiated and established the Nevada State Athletic Trainers’ Association, serving as its first president.

His professional honors include the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award from the Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association (2007). He was also elected as the first Nevada representative to the District 8 FWATA managing board and later served as public relations chair for the district.

In 2015, Koloskie was appointed deputy athletic director at the University at Albany, where he oversaw football, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s soccer, and women’s volleyball. His responsibilities also included internal operations, sports medicine, and service as the university’s NCAA healthcare administrator. He retired in 2019.
