Brandon Hall

Brandon Hall was inducted into the College of Applied Human Sciences Hall of Fame in the fall of 2025. He was previously named the College of Education and Human Services Distinguished Alumnus in 2009.

Hall earned a Doctor of Education in educational psychology from West Virginia University in 1977.

A specialist in e-learning, Hall led an independent research and advisory firm that produced reports, consulting, and presentations to help organizations evaluate learning technologies. He authored Web-Based Training Cookbook, served on the faculty of San Francisco State University’s Multimedia Studies Program, and published frequent industry reports and a column for Chief Learning Officer magazine. His work included advising corporate and government organizations such as Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Motorola, Goldman Sachs, Westinghouse, and the U.S. Army, and he chaired the annual Excellence in Learning Awards, an industry recognition program dedicated to e-learning. 

His research and commentary have been featured in outlets including Fortune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and BusinessWeek.
